Hospitals, clinics and health plans that receive federal funding through HHS have their own web accessibility deadline.
What the law requires
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and HHS's 2024 rule. WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
- May 11, 2027 for recipients with 15 or more employees
- May 10, 2028 for recipients with fewer than 15 employees
HHS moved both dates back one year in an interim final rule in May 2026, citing consistency with the DOJ's Title II rule. The standard did not change.
