Web accessibility for businesses selling in the eu

If you sell to customers in the European Union, the European Accessibility Act applies to your online store and many other digital services, wherever your company is based.

What the law requires

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882). EN 301 549, which uses WCAG 2.1 Level AA for web content.

  • In force since June 28, 2025

It covers e-commerce, banking, e-books, transport ticketing and several other services. Microenterprises providing services, those with fewer than 10 staff and annual turnover or balance sheet of 2 million euros or less, are exempt.

Where we focus

  • Checkout and account flows for EU customers.
  • Accessibility information you must publish about your service.
  • Every language version of the site.
