1.4.10 Reflow

Level AAWCAG 2.2Automated checks exist

Content has to fit a screen 320 CSS pixels wide without scrolling sideways. That is what a desktop page looks like at 400% zoom.

Who it helps

People who zoom in to read, and everyone on a small phone.

Failures we see most

  • Fixed-width layouts and banners
  • Tables used for page layout
  • Long URLs or codes that never wrap

How it gets tested

The scanner resizes each page to 320 pixels and finds the elements that force sideways scrolling.

Automated checks can find failures of 1.4.10, but they cannot confirm that a page passes. A specialist still reviews it by hand.

How we fix it

A specialist fixes this in your site's code or content, and we re-test the page before you sign off.
